BOXERS’ REVENGE

Posted on December 1, 2008
By tech blogger in Uncategorized

The martyrs of the Boxer Uprising must not die in vain. Besides of providing a costly lesson to warn future invaders of insurgence movements, these martyrs should reincarnate themselves in the forms of anti-war, special-operation, marshal-arts specialists. This time they should be armed to the teeth with high-tech gadgets, to compensate for the lack of them in the last bloody lopsided encounter.

The lesson from the last encounter is to never charge into a war. Better yet, don’t let a war happen in the first place. We have seen by now that wars kill mostly us people, not the military men, and even more rarely the leaders, who initiate them. We must preemptively strike the leaders before they start any funny business. We must train enough modern Boxers to keep such leaders in check.

The Boxers should have their revenge.

PSP Widow

Posted on December 1, 2008
By tech blogger in Uncategorized

OK, so I don’t own a Sony PSP myself but I do live with a PSP fan. I had started to think that my other half had some kind of OCD where he needs to keep his hands occupied. I’ve now learned that his gadgets, including his PSP are actually quite good and can now forgive him for spending hours attached to the thing! Although I don’t quite understand his talk of upgrading firmware to version 2 (should you really do it? Maybe not if you want to be able to play game downloads)or downloading a hack (lets your PSP do things it otherwise wouldn’t) there is one thing that I’m quite taken with!

PSP Wallpapers

Wallpaper to me used to be something you hang on walls when they have faults which need to be hidden and they’re simply not in a state to be painted. However, I now know wallpapers to be background images to use on your PSP (or other devices but let’s stick to the subject).

How do you get a PSP wallpaper onto your PSP?

One option is to use any photos that you may have. These could be of your family or from a holiday. However, they may not be the right size or end up squashed if you do try to re-size them I know this because my fella had a very fat photo of me on his screen. Of course, this was due to the re-sizing of the photo and not the all-inclusive package in Egypt! There are sites where you can download PSP wallpapers for free. The advantage here is that the wallpapers are the right size and you get a lot more choice than you would from your own holiday snaps! As well as the wallpapers featuring babes which my man finds most appealing you can download anything from the Simpsons wallpapers to South Park and from Music to Movie stars and if you cannot find what you’re looking for you can always email in a request.

His favourite site is http://www.freepspwallpapers.co.uk

Do you think that this will deter criminals?

Posted on December 1, 2008
By tech blogger in Uncategorized

How effective do you think this will be?

A house at a secret location in the Avon and Somerset Police force area has been wired for pictures and sound in an attempt to catch burglars red-handed. CCTV cameras and a range of high-tech gadgets have been installed in the property, which will be monitored by officers from a control room.

Police would only confirm the property was located in a "burglary hotspot". The crime-fighting tactic follows the success of the force's "covert capture cars" which lock criminals inside. They are then played a taped message informing them a police officer is on their way to arrest them.

Assistant Chief Constable Jackie Roberts said the idea behind the scheme was to put the fear of crime back into criminals.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/bristol/6163663.stm

I think this is a very good idea.

For all the talk about heavier jail sentences or the death penalty for murderers etc these are not particularly effective as deterrents because criminals who plan their crimes don't tend to believe there's a high chance of being caught. Anything which gives criminals greater uncertainty about this has to be an advance. A high prospect of detection is far and away the best deterrent. Schemes like this are a drop in the ocean but I'd certainly like to see more of them.

Incidentally it's only entrapment or a honey trap if there's an 'unusual inducement' to crime eg if the doors of the house or car are left invitingly open in a way which might entice someone to commit a crime they otherwise wouldn't have considered. If there's no element of unusual inducement then, so far as the criminal's concerned, they are breaking in with the formed intent to commit crime. No sympathy for them in that case, or for slippery lawyer arguments that try to spare 'em responsibility for their actions.

Anyway will it deter criminals ? Yes, if schemes like this become more widespread it's at least a start.

"Effect of gizmos on today's youth"?

Posted on December 1, 2008
By tech blogger in Uncategorized

I need a mindblowing writeup on that for my speech tomorrow. Just a small paragraph. Pl help. I'll bcome a diehard fan of yours 4 that.

today's youth, some reflecting on them would say up to technical date. others would say imaginatively lazy. Can a nation raised on cell phones and computers truly be able to sustain its self with out the technology that they were born into. For example, parents used to take play time away from their kids outside. Now they take away cell phones, Nintendo, and the Internet as a punishment. If the challenges that the country faced now what it faced 50 years ago, the nations history would be different . Today youth practically act disabled when cellphones or anything of that sort does not work. I say that today's advances had made this nations children spoiled, totally dependent, and venerable
